Following on from the opening of Zaha Hadid’s acclaimed retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, ROVE is pleased to announce the unveiling of the installation Forest of Towers at a new temporary space on Holmes Road London NW5. This elegantly extensive structure, close to 25 metres in length and 2 metres in width, flirts with both scale and structure in a masterful demonstration of manipulation and intervention. Its surface, punctuated by eleven scale sculptures, displays a myriad of architectural projects undertaken by Hadid and her studio. Projects featured include: The Dubai Dancing Tower, Olympic Aquatic Center, Moscow River Tower, Singapore Guggenheim, Basel Casino and the Architecture Foundation London. Exhibited alongside the Forest of Towers will be a 1:1 scale maquette of the Z.Car, Hadid’s first excursion into automotive design. The car’s design reflects Hadid’s organic language in it’s asymmetric, streamlined ‘water drop’ shape - a reference to the proposed use of a hydrogen fuel cell to power the production model. This highly distinctive and environmentally friendly vehicle, an edition of which is being shown simultaneously at Hadid’s Guggenheim retrospective, is intended for limited production only. ART BASEL Miami Beach 2006 Kenny Schachter ROVE and Zaha Hadid Architects will be showcasing a stand-alone pavilion in the Art Basel Miami Beach ‘Art Positions’ sector, December 7 – 10. ROVE’s relationship with Zaha Hadid Architects is further consolidated by the news that planning permission was recently received to erect a mixed-use building on the site of the galleries first London home on Hoxton Square. Hadid’s design incorporates a ground-floor gallery space with a mixture of office and apartments on the upper floors - all wrapped up in a design that references motion on a grand scale. Each of her dynamic and innovative projects builds on over thirty years of revolutionary experimentation and research in the interrelated fields of urbanism, architecture and design. Having first received international recognition through her striking images and designs, Zaha Hadid is now widely known as an innovative architect who constantly tests the boundaries of architecture, urbanism and design. Zaha Hadid’s first built work in the UK, The Maggies Cancer Care Centre in Scotland, will open this autumn. Her revolutionary design for The MAAXI Contemporary Arts Centre in Rome is scheduled for completion next year.
